Proper cleanup of environments affected by any type of fire, smoke, or soot damage involves a highly methodical approach combined with skilled labor and the right tools. At Servpro, we have just that, and we will perform our restoration tasks in the minimal amount of time so that you can continue onward in your routine "like it never even happened."

Removing problematic odor

Servpro's effective deodorization procedures often initially involve thermal fogging, which emits a smoke-like fog of a specialized deodorant which penetrates all of the small cavities of the structure. This eliminates a possible residual odor and enables us to completely remove the odor even from hard to reach areas. If needed, we also have effective ozone generating machines which will eradicate odor on the molecular level on difficult porous surfaces like books and clothing.

From top to bottom

Every affected surface is inspected and thoroughly cleaned and fully deodorized, from the ceiling and walls and woodwork right down to small items like bric-a-brac, wall hangings, kitchen cabinets and their contents. In general we work from the top down, completing all of the flooring on one of the last days of our task there. Walls and ceilings are cleaning using special electrostatic sponges, while resilient hard surfaces like doors and other woodwork are hand washed. For crawl spaces and difficult to reach areas or attics, we can use environmentally friendly Soda Blasting or sand blasting to clean off heavy soot residues.

Attention to detail

Your possessions are handled with great care and are inventoried if it is necessary to relocate them to a safe place in severe damage situations. Each item is then cleaned by hand by a caring professional, taking precautions to details and being sensitive to items of high personal or monetary value. No affected item is overlooked: even smaller items like contents of desks, junk drawers, CD's and cases, little decorative items, and all the smaller items around your property. Items are cleaned and deodorized according to what is required to return the item back to a state before the damage happened. If it needs dusting, we dust it. If it needs washing, we wash it. If it needs shining or polishing or waxing or refinishing, we do that too. For some specialty items like artwork or higher value possessions, we may even have a contracted specialist perform the restoration task. Continual inspections are made to ensure that all contents are correctly processed and no resoiling occurs from other work not yet complete.

HVAC cleaning & deodorizing

Because of the nature of smoke and soot, it is often necessary to clean out HVAC systems properly so that recontamination does not occur and the job is done completely right. This is especially true of smoke damage situations involving heating systems, as often the soot will be distributed throughout the structure by way of the ductwork. We have powerful equipment that will sweep right through the air handling system, removing odorous soot particles for good.

Carpeting and other flooring

Once all of the structure is cleaned and all of the large hard surfaces and smaller contents are correctly processed, we will conclude with your upholstery cleaning and all of your other flooring. We use both specialized portable machines and truck mounted high power extraction cleaning equipment to remove harmful soot residues from upholstery, carpeting, tile and grout, wood floors, vinyl flooring, area rugs and other flooring materials.

A final inspection is accomplished, and a walk-through is done with the property owner or manager to communicate what was restored and what may still require further work or refinishing or even replacement. Everything is always documented on paper to properly inform insurance adjusters and any other parties of interest so that we are all on the same page with the recovery effort.
